1952 Vintage Omega

This is my first post on the Omega forum as I now own my first Omega watch courtesy of our own G99!

Here is the story.  I remember posts on Purists discussing vintage watches and the "themes" most of us collect with.  I had never done that but I brought it up with Mr. Hutton on our many Skype video calls for I knew he collected "1964's" as that is the year of his birth.  We left a conversation with he recommending that I search for a 1952 watch as that was my birth year.

Frankly, I have never purchased a vintage watch particularly one 58 years old and never an Omega.  I asked Graham to search for me and if he found something to let me know.  Three months went by and I received an email a few weeks ago and he suggested I buy a 1952 Omega he had found at auction.  Of course, I put it off but eventually offered the owner 80% of what he asked.  He took it!  So I parted with some funds and I am glad I did for his description and photos did not do this watch justice.

I have tried to take some photos so I will share them with you.  This is a 1952 Omega manual wind caliber 266 in stainless steel.  It is a 17 jewel pink gold plated movement.  The ivory dial is the original. The watch was obviously well cared for and it was recently serviced.  The watch diameter is 35mm excluding the crown and 42mm lug to lug and I think it looks good on my wrist. The strap is a new calfskin and the "crystal" is a new Acier Staybrite.  The watch winds very well and is keeping time well.

Thank you, Graham, I really like it and wear it.  The chipmunks, Alvin, Theodore, and Simon do also!
