1961 GMTM 1675 Gilt :)

Dear friends,

I have been searching for a gilt GMTM 1675 for more than 1.5 years.  My search criteria moved from a gilt to dial+ chapter ring +PCG so the search became tougher and the condition of a few pieces I came across did not quite fit my bill.  The closest came in Dec 16 but I was too slow - this is still bugging me till today :'(.

Then sometime in Mar 17......2 pieces of '61 glossy gilt CR PCG came a knocking....the bonus was an exclamation dial!  The first one came with confusing info on endlinks and bracelet that on the watch and the second had an asking price that was 17% higher (no small change) than the first but everything was correct.

This time I made sure I kept in touch with the sellers constantly and keeping the conversation going by email and phone.  There were a few late nights due to 12 hours time difference but worth the while.

Big thanks to Bill who came to help prompto with my questions on the endlinks/bracelet and sound advices/feedback which helped with a quick decision this time.  Both watches had its imperfection and charm.  The first one had a warmer patina but a mark on the dial and the second one had hands that were a little less than ideal.  In the end, I went with the second seller because the dial was in a better shape and to me that was A1 important.

Vintage Rolex has added new dimension to my watch enjoyment.  Each one is so different and rolex sports watches from decades ago seemed to be built for one purpose - to get beaten up. That's why each comes with different degree of case wear, bezel fade, patina coloring on the markers and dials, exuding its own uniqueness, charm, and character.

Sharing a few pics my 1675 and have a great weekend!

Best,
SF
