1991 Louis Brandt II Collection chronograph

This is a 1991 Louis Brandt II Collection, calibre 1158

These limited and numbered edition watches used modified ETA calibres, unlike the 1984 Louis Brandt I watches, which were primarily Omega in house calibres. This series included three perpetual calendar models (skeleton and with and without 21k gold rotor), chronograph with and without 21 k gold rotor, and date with and without 21k gold rotor. Date and chronograph werre chronometers, although not marked on the face.

A big attraction for me is the guilloche dial, a pattern known as Clouds de Paris

The detailing and depth the dial displays amazes me . Note the reflections on the polished inner surface of the case adjacent to the dial -- almost an optical illusion

From some angles, I find the watch just fascinating

Some close up details of the dial

This is a Valjoux 7750 with gold plating, chronometer upgrades and a 21k gold rotor, calibre 1158

One interesting detail about these watches is that they are the only Omega's issued without a traditional serial number "nn'nnn'nnn", like 66000000.

The CL 328 on the movement is the serial number for this watch.

This is a peculiar characteristic of the seven Louis Brandt II watches (three perpetual calendar models, two chronograph models, two date models).

Note also that this is a 17 jewel version of the 7750, compared to 25 jewels in today's Omega chronometer 7750-based watches, such as the ChronoDiver, which began in 1995, I understand. Sort of an interesting footnote in Omega's history, the two Louis Brandt Collections have never been repeated, nor am I aware of a similar effort previously . I am fascinated by these watches and have several from the each series, I and II
