This is my first post on this forum although I have been reading (and learning) with interest the opinions and thoughts of other posters for some time.
This is a bit of a good news, bad news story....with a very happy ending! In 2005 my house was broken into and a number of my watches stolen. Amongst them, a beautiful GMT Perpetual in Platinum (329-80). As the watch was no longer produced, I searched for a while to see if I could find on through my connections in Switzerland or even second hand in auctions. I had no luck with the dealers and all the second hand examples came without the accompanying certificates, paperwork and box (could they have been stolen too?).
Anyway, two weeks ago I was put in touch with an authorised dealer who happened to have one in his vault!! I saw it last weekend and putting it on my wrist was like welcoming an old friend again. And to my great surprise, it is the exact watch that Marcus Hanke photographed for this excellent article reviewing the GMT Perpetual (number 331). The watch is currently on it's way back to La Locle for a service and to have the day & month dials exchanged for English ones
I am flying abroad for the next 4 weeks but will definately post some photos as soon as I come back.
