Rolex

A soft spot for Cellini?

As much as I love the Rolex Professional and Oyster models, I’m always drawn to their more artful brothers and sisters in the Cellini line-up.  I like to imagine Cellini as a creative outlet for all the talent at Rolex when they’re tired of working on champagne dials and steel-and-gold watches.

5441 - Prince - Like wearing an ingot on your wrist, but in a good way!  As far as I know, the only Rolex with a caseback window?
50515 - Cellini with Date - I was surprised to find the hour hand jumps in 1 hour increments to set the date (much like the GMT)
5310 - Cellini Cestello - sadly the lovely black MOP dial isn’t enough to defeat the Cartier on my wife’s wrist

As a side note, I recently had the 5441 Prince serviced by RSC in Lititz, PA.  Was worried about tool marks and other signs of service on the movement being visible through the caseback window.  Everything looked great and couldn’t tell it had been worked on, even under the loupe.  Great job from the Rolex team there.
