TimeOut

A week end in Valencia, Spain.

Here are the promised pictures of this quick trip to Valencia.

But before, let me say that I always had, since my early childhood, a special relation with Spain, which I consider like my second home country, due to the fact that I spent many time there, and some excellent and unforgettable moments, mostly in Andalucia ( Puerto Banus, Sevilla, Granada, Ronda, Cordoba, Ojen and so on... ).

I never went to Valencia, except once, some 20 years ago, to plead. But I didn't come back to Spain for some 14 years, and I deeply missed that country.

Spain, and Valencia is no exception, has a great quality of life. It almost never rains, there, the sky is blue, and the orange flowers and jasmin perfume the streets and places.

Add the night life, the food specialities, the " chocolate con churros ", the horchata de chufa, the great crude ham and the " queso " ( cheese ) and you will understand how lovely, bewitching and attractive is this country.

A country cannot be great without great people, and let me tell you how friendly are spanish people.

In Valencia, I had the pleasure to meet " in the flesh " our dear Vicente, aka VMM. And we had a great time during these two days, spent almost together.

A last point. My daughter never went to Spain. I wanted her to discover this country, and to share my love for it, with her.

She now understands, and shares my passion.

To end, I will say that I strongly recommend a visit of this city. The old part of the town is superb.

Now, let's see the pictures.

The first place, where we had a super lunch:

The Paella is a local speciality.

Then a mandatory walk in the modern and futuristic part of the town,

The Playa " beach ".

Then, a visit to an " Horchateria ". Horchata de Chufa is a drink without alcohol you give to children. Adults like it, too. I am a big fan. Chufa, in english, is " Tiger's nut ". It is a bit like almond milk, for the taste.

Our hotel was ideally located, in the center of the old town:

Two old markets which we visited:

Beauty is everywhere, at each corner.

Lovely small places, with " Cafés ":

Our super guide, VMM!

The day after, we had a kind of paella but with cut spaghettis.

Places, avenues, everything is beautiful.

Thank you so much for your friendship and welcome, Vicente...

My daughter and myself we appreciated it a lot!

All the best,

Nicolas
