About the REAL MOON by van der KLAAUW

 

Some time ago (june 5th to be precise), GSTT presented us the new "REAL MOON" by Christian van der KLAAUW

I have an idea of how it is done, but I'd like you to give me your thoughts about it.

My guess is that it uses the sane principle as the KING SIZE Big Date by Rainer Nienaber : it uses 2 discs, 1 with days from 1 to 16, and the other, above, with 17 to 31, AND a hole. The way it works is that from the 1st to the 16th of the month, the top disc is placed so that the hole is just in front of the date windoz, so that you can see the dates of the lower disc. Then, from the 17th to the 31st, the dates shown are on the top disc.



So, now, if you keep the 2 discs, but replace the numbers but cut-outs representing the moon phase, you can display the real moon phase display.

Am I clear ?

Anyone have a different guess on how it works ?

Whatever the technic used, I really like the idea of this watch, as I never really liked the "traditional" moonphases, as they didn't represented the moon as it is in reality.
