This is not meant to direct towards anyone
in particular. In fact, I mentioned this as
a personal reflection as to how I can learn
from the incident.
I think we can criticise Patek all we want
and if we wish to be nasty, we can force
ourselves and give a very negative assessment
to this brand.
but a Patek will always be a Patek and this
reminded me on a particularly amusing incident
at Chez Mario Restaurant Basel this year.
One of the watchnut was wearing a Patek World
Timer and a die hard Lange fan was calling it
a piece of "junk". The said Patek owner kept
his cool and mentioned that he can offer to
sell and deliver the (most difficult to get)
Platinum Datograph to the said Lange fan
at a specific mentioned price in a short
specific time.
The implication is obvious, can the Lange fan
offer to deliver the same Platinum Patek World
Timer at any price within the same short time?
My guess is, probably NOT!
Being a Lange fan, the impact on me is deeply
felt, and taught me a very important lesson.
NEVER, and I mean never impose our value
judgments upon others, no matter how right it
is in our own views.
