Horological Meandering

Are these watches sufficiently different to justify getting both??

Have basically decided to get the AP Royal Oak 15300 (white face)early next year, but since going to Basel I have alos generated a serious interest in the Patek 5167.

I feel that the Cal 3120 is a more interesting movement to me than the 315 in the Patek simply because it is newer, has had some amazing reviews and from what little I know of watch movements, it does seem very well put togther. My slight reservation about the 315 is that is is much older (although do understand it does have ceramic bearings now) andI feel Patek are about to implement their silicon escapement into the 315 movement for that model and it is probably better to wait -  following that will probably be a better movement than the 3120.

I know Gerald Genta designed both, and they are both high end sports watches with many similarities in appearance, but to what extent is getting both stupid - are they sufficiently different (in terms of the movements) to justify both in my collection.

Also if Vacheron replace the JLC 899 in their Vacheron Overseas Chronometer with their cal 2450 movement how much duplication is their in that purchase of that with the above two.

Very interested in your opinions.
