Blancpain 2763 Moonphase, epitomy of a Blancpain watch

In 1984, following the rebirth of this esteemed brand, one tenet of its philosophy was (and is) "Throughout history, and throughout the world's cultures, the moon has always been viewed as an embodiment of time's cyclical nature and as a celestial counterpart to the sublunary realm, where everything comes into and passes out of being. Even the earliest mechanical geared clocks imitate the phenomenon of the perennially waxing and waning moon, and this is why moon-phase indicators have always been a fixed feature in the watchmaker's art." Foregoing the flowery marketing prose, at this time (1984) Blancpain first introduced both manually and automatically wound wristwatches with moon-phase displays. Today in my mind the best execution of this complication in the BP product line is the 2763 watch.

I believe the 6763 movement in this watch is based on the 100 hour, dual barrel 1150 series Fredric Piguet movement.

Housed in the 2100 (Leman) series case, with day, date, month and moon-phase indicators and the (to me) classic skeleton hands this watch symbolizes the modern Blancpain watch. In the SS version with the white dial and white gold hands and markers this watch is an understated yet perfectly executed complicated wristwatch.

I realize there are other fine triple date moon-phase watches on the market, most notably from JLC and Chronoswiss (in this price range) but neither of these capture this perfect style and top quality movement like the 2763.

This watch is not currently in my collection, but some day it will be there alongside its more famous brother the Flyback chronograph.

Sorry for the long winded post. I am absent the skills to post a picture of this watch and would ask if someone here could perform this task.

Thanks, Mike.
