Boutique vs. Authorized Dealer
I am planning on purchasing a Breguet within the next year if my watchmaking hobby continues to be lucrative. I have visited the Tourbillon Boutique twice now and am really surprised at the customer service there in their willingness to let me, a 16 year old, to try on watches and such. Even after my visit, with emails to them, they responded in a friendly way and quickly for that matter. I was incredibly please with the service and, of course, the watches. However, I know that they do not discount at all, which, on the other hand, ADs do. I had asked and the employee told me that Boutiques offer loyalty programs in place of discounts that include VIP invites, news ahead of time, gifts with purchases, etc. My question is, is it worth the difference in price, which may be a few thousand? I am looking towards the Breguet Marine Big Date which retails for $14,800 (correct me if im off) and I have yet to ask an AD on the discounted price (though I can imagine it's not a huge discount like that of Breitling and such). Let's just say that the discounted price is $13,000. For that $2000 difference, to those who have been loyal to boutiques, is it worth that extra cash?
Regards,
Gary

As a general rule, cash is better than gifts. Cash is potential, while a gift is actual. With cash you could buy the very thing they gave as a gift, or you could buy something else you even wanted more. It would be a rare day that the gifts they give were...
