Chopard L.U.C & Dickson Watch Chinese New Year Celebration
Last week , Chopard and Dickson Watch had a Chinese New Year Celebration cocktail with a group of local watch collectors/enthusiasts at Dickson Watch & Jewellery new boutique located in Knightsbridge along the main shopping belt of Singapore - Orchard Road.
Some key pieces of the Chopard L.U.C pieces were present for the watch-lovers to view and feel. Beside, an unusual and auspicoius "Lo-Hei" was done in a watch boutique! The first that I know of !
Snapshots of the wonderful evening of catching up with some friends ...

While friends were busy catching up, the table for the "Lo Hei" / 'Yu Sheng' was set up with the key ingredients neatly lay out.
The position of the table was smartly placed at the one of the fortune-points of the boutique - the main entrance.
'Yu Sheng' is a must first dish or appetizer for the Chinese New Year meals to mark the beginning of an prosperous lunar new year. Also known as "Lo Hei" ( in Cantonese 捞起) which friends and families gather and do the tossing of the shredded ingredients while wishing one another with the many Chinese auspicious phrases. The belief is the higher the tossing, the better the luck and fortune for everyone.
Ingredients are unique to the restaurants, typically consist of slices of fresh raw salmon, shredded white radish, shredded
carrots, capsicum ,ginger, lime tree leaves, Chinese
parsley, ground peanuts, toasted sesame seeds, crackers
and five-spices powder. The dressing is plum
sauce and oil

Time for the auspicious tossing and friends gathered around ...

A short note and well wishes from Mr Patrick Normand ...

and Mr Kelvin Lim, General Manager of Dickson Watch & Jewellery ( gentleman to the left of Mr Normand) ...
Alright, Gentlemen, please roll up your sleeves for the action !!!

Interestingly we had a non-Chinese gentleman for the ingredients mixing ceremony.
Singapore is a multi-racial society.

Oh! His SOP with the auspicious Chinese phrases!

Our friends were impressed with our mixer ...

The crackers, symbolised the gold ingots were poured in.

The tossing began ....

Come on ...

Higher!!!

Some quick pics ....

L.U.C Tourbillon Esprit de Fleurier, limited to 15 pieces.
This model seems to be a variant from the previously sold out model, L.U.C Tourbillon Heritage which was limited to 25 pieces production.

Beautiful fleurisanne (Fleurier-style) engraving on the 18K gold mainplate and bridges.
For the specifications, please

This Fleurier-style engraving had made a name for Fleurier from 18th century and the appeal spreaded to as far as China.
The engraving method is different from the typical, with the highlighted details cut into the metal. The Fleurier-style is the reverse, the area around the highlighted details were removed instead, which required higher skill and more time to complete.

Both the bridges and platine are Fleurier-style engraved. Stunning!

Strike One in rose gold. A couple of friends were asking if any repeaters soon?

More canapes and drinks were served ...

Tasty chicken wings ...

A surprised guest arrived .... Jester, our Moderator for Panerai and also an avid collector ! Good to see you!
Thanks to Chopard and Dickson Watch for the wonderful evening.
