DateJust Issue

 

I had my DateJust serviced by Rolex about 5 years ago.  When I got it back something still just didn't feel right when setting the time/date.  Over time I just forgot about it and kept wearing it.  This morning I unscrewed the crown and wound it, pulled the stem out to the 2nd notch to go to the 3rd to stop the movement, it wouldn't come out to the 3rd notch.  I turned the crown a little in both directions and results were the same, wouldn't come out any further.  I turned the crown again and eventually got the movement to stop so I could set the time, pushed it in and set the date then screwed it down securely.  Any thoughts on what the problem could be?  I didn't think it would need servicing again after approximately 5 years.  I should have taken it back when it was returned from service but I just got lazy.

It's the "keyless works" mechanism activated by your stem -- both it and the stem wearing a bit. There are lots of little moving parts in this mechanism, and frankly (my opinion) they are not always given the degree of attention they should receive. This ...
