Hi everyone,
I have been away from the purists for the past few months and logged on the site a few days ago to catch up on some old posts and great conversations. I just wanted to make a comment about Sebi's panograph problem and Thomas' input about the dealer taking care of the problem. Actually, I was quite satisfied in knowing that the dealer actually took the watch back, is sending it back to Germany, and is giving Sebi a new piece. Although I am of the opinion that the dealer really should be obligated to provide such service, I also realize that some dealers might not. Thomas made a point in saying that the dealer Sebi was dealing with really took care of him. That being said, I really was solidified in my opinion about buying from an authorized channel. This has been discussed several times but to the credit of the reputable dealers out there, it makes sense to buy from an authorized channel versus the unauthorized channel. I realize that deep discounts are granted from buying through the internet or through unauthorized channels and with that, comes the risk of having to bear a problem that Sebi had. When I think of the trade off, I don't think it is worth it. Many times, dealers are willing to work with you regarding the price anyway and hence, the importance of dealing with someone reputable and authorized. Good luck with the new piece Sebi.
