yes, every time i tell myself i need to concentrate my collection to only a few brands (pp, als, fpj, independents)... sadly panerai is often the out man out along w/ notables like AP, iwc, rolex, and hublot. but i've been reasonably good this year and have only strayed once... the ap bumblebee. i've got to say it's got staying power so it'll likely be part of my collection for awhile. anyways... it got me thinking that I should venture back to panerai... who can stay away from those amazingly clean dials and robust shape forever!!! i'll be honest the 317 has an allure (and it's awesome 'in the metal' or should i say 'in the ceramic') but the dial is simply too busy for me and isn't what I'd call a classic panerai. So i'm going to dive back in and am going after a 127 and 190 which i think are the two best examples of a luminor and radiomir outside of the historic (and historically expensive) pre-vendomes or recent ultra special editions 203, 349, etc. Would you all agree?
Hopefully I can find a couple of pristine examples of both. I've been having trouble finding a truly mint and complete 127 (probably looked at 6 or 7 now but it's either incomplete or the hands are blemished, or the case is frankly a bit too scratched up. Hopefully my luck changes and able to track down both of them soon. wish me luck. pics will follow if I succeed...
