Extra-Plates questions

1. To what does the term "extra-plates" refer? (If I were to guess, I would think it means that a "clam-shell" of two chassis plates houses the mechanism a la exoskeleton.)

2.a. What goes into a decision to offer a watch in white gold instead of platinum? (I realize that Pl is harder to work than Au and is a more expensive material, but I would think that at this price point the added cost would not be of great consequence to the target market.)

2.b. Is V-C's white gold alloyed with Palladium?

3. What can you tell me about the Patrimony E-P's 1003 movement?

4. I am in the market for a pair of dress watches, one in yellow metal and one in white metal. (I would prefer yellow gold and platinum, but am so smitten by the E-P design that I am thinking that V-C's rose gold and white gold would be perfectly acceptable.) I'd have to add that cost is an object, but for dress wear complications and date or even seconds are dispensible features. Any comments on my notion of such a pair?

BTW, I wonder if rose gold is a development to obtain a tone of gold that looks better against skin tones.

Thanks for your help.
