First JLC watch (Amvox1) - please help!!

Hi All

I am very close to picking up my first JLC.  This is the first "real" step up in a watch for me, one that I have pondered for quite some time. I have two other watches, one being a Casio.... wink and the other, a Mont Blanc - white faced. I have been looking for a black face watch for quite some time now, and have looked at Panerai, Rolex and IWC....but each and every time i think about my purchase, I just can't go past JLC.

The watch that I am looking to pick up is the AMVOX 1, SS, with leather strap.  It has been set aside for me to pick up this weekend (new)...if I am so willing!!!  I saw it two weeks ago and had it placed aside for me.  I have been reading this forum on and off for a few months now, and it has helped me immensely.  I thought it only prudent to seek some expert advice prior to taking the plunge (if i do!!!)  IMHO, I really like the watch, it strikes a good balance for me to wear with a suit and casual on the weekends.  I love the alarm!!

My questions below largely drive at valuation!  I don't ever plan on selling, but the investor in me just wants to make sure that I am not missing something when I consider the purchase.

Questions:

a) I have noticed just today that the Amvox 1 is no longer on the JLC website?  Does this confirm that they are no longer producing this watch?

b) Can someone please explain what Special Edition (which I believe the Amvox 1 is) means?  Limited Edition is obvious to me, but what does Special imply, is it a fixed production number but not known to the public and not branded on the watch?  Does this have any real positive value implications?

c) I came across a website of a reputable watch dealer in Asia, that had an original, BRAND NEW, "shipped from the manufaturer direct to Aston Martin UK" Amvox 1 watch, SS, leather strap, that it sold for a discount off the MRRP of more than 50%.  This was stated on its website, and also confirmed over the phone when I called.  Can someone please explain how something like this happens?  Does this trade have implications to the value of the watch.  Am I missing something?

d) Open ended ....  any comments / considerations / support from the seasoned watch lovers out there??

Many thanks in advance

Cheers
