Horological Meandering

Appreciate comments comparing the two (e.g. finishing, servicing of the watches), and specificially between both manual Mayu and Chronometre Bleu. Am thinking of getting either. Thanks.

I consider Moser as an excellent brand but not a Haute Horlogerie one. The main interest of the Mayu movement is the technical features and its lay-out. Finishings are good but not the best in class. With the CB, you enter another dimension in terms of fi...  

... but I have been very impressed with the Perpetual 1, and it will likely be my first perpetual calendar watch. But it is because of the engineering and ideas behind the display, more than the watch itself. F.P.Journe brings a different design dimension...

Disclosure: I don't own either. For me, when I look at a Journe, it's the best of the best from any angle. That's not aesthetic judgment, just a comment on the quality of manufacture. From the dial side, I find Mosers to be very well made with interesting... 

for the case of CB could partly account for the difference in price point. Unfortunately, the AD where I'm doesn't have a CB at hand for me to view the finishing in person.

Agreed, the beauty of design and level of finishing of the FPJ movements stand out from the Mosers (at least from the macro photos I've seen on this and other watch sites). But the dial side of FPJ leaves me a little cold compared to Moser. The "tagline" ... 

Just a comment about Journe's dials, which I don't think are particularly photogenic. In person the screwed-down polished steel frames and raised subdials give additional depth and in natural light (as opposed to a dealer’s showroom or Boutique) the... 

If you put their movements under a Loupe I find Moser to be a little inconsistent. And their overall movement design isn't the most attractive. Definitely not in the same league as FPJ or Lange, but still nice watches and good value too. The Moser perpetu...
