GP Tourbillons sold out
Dear enthusiasts,
some interesting perspectives in one of Germany?s leading watch magazines.
"Armbanduhren" issue March 2006 features 13 (!) full-size ad-less pages on Girard-Perregaux, JeanRichard, the Manufacture, the SOWIND Group and those behind, namely the Macaluso family. That?s a decent read and interesting details, which might be a recommendable lecture for all in the german language region.
Beyond that, the same magazine feature?s a 3-page interview with Dr. Luigi "Gino" Macaluso, in which he shares some really candid insights and perspectives on GP?s past and future development - up to the year of 2020!
Among the many details, some are truly amazing:
- Today about 25 percent of GP?s production are ladies watches, where it was less than 4 percent only 4 years ago. This is quite a significant increase and the beautiful Cat?s Eye is a cornerstone of this success.

- On sales (and i think this will be quite a surprise for many), GP sells about 30 percent in Europe, 20 percent in Asia, 10 percent in Japan and 10 percent in the US, with the rest shared by Middle East and other countries.
- Until October 2005 (that is, a few weeks after unveiling the new partnership), GP received already more than 80 orders for the Flying Tourbillon "Challenger Of Records" for BMW Oracle Racing. Yet this watch will not be made in more than 32 units and the limitation will not be exceeded in any case.

- In terms of watches and movements, some really explosive remarks:
1.
The "Tourbillon Under Three Gold Bridges" is sold out for the next five (5) years".
2.
The portfolio will include different automatic movements in the very near future, which are
- 8 3/4 ligne (about 20mm), this especially for ladies watches
- one with 10 1/2 ligne (about 23.6mm)
- two with 11 1/2 ligne (about 26mm)
- in the near future, one more is to come with 13 1/4 ligne (about 30mm)
- a new chronograph movement, which is a completely new design and development, will be ready very soon.
3.
And this might be the biggest surprise and truly dynamite for collectors:
"[...] We are currently in the state of creating a new movement with a Tourbillon.
The reason is the Tourbillon Under Three Gold Bridges will be limited in the near future.
For the new Tourbillon, we will integrate new materials and new production methods [...]" (as much a literal translation as possible, i may add).
I think these a some
really candid insights and perspectives, as well as a very interesting outlook on what may come. Conclusions will be left to each of you...
Greetings from germany,
Peter
