Grand Seiko Starry Night

This is the SBGD202 in rose gold.

Around 2017, Seiko spun off Grand Seiko and made it an independent brand. As a result, the watches bear only the Grand Seiko logo. This watch runs on caliber 9R01 with an 8-day power reserve. It is produced at the Micro Artist Studio. In addition to the Spring Drive movement, this time the case is made of rose gold (as opposed to an earlier platinum model) and features a black dial dusted with tiny gold particles like stars twinkling in the night sky (if you look closer at the second picture, you may spot them). Much has been written about the Spring Drive movement so I am not going to expose my ignorance of the subject here. The net result is that, with a difference of +/- 0.5 seconds a day, the watch is incredibly accurate.

The watch is produced in very small quantities - around 25 pieces a year. My only reservation is the size - at 43mm x 13.2mmm, this is definitely not a small watch, especially for a dressy one...

Hope you like the pictures.
