Help with Patek......
My wife has a first cousin that has asked for my help and in turn, I need your help.
This cousin inherited from his mother a gold Patek Philippe minute repeater pocket watch. She had given it to her husband and this cousin's father in 1953. I have not seen the watch but he keeps it in a bank safe deposit box. He tells me the number 156640 is engraved on the case and the mechanism. There is a "number on the cover of 409835" and I assume that is the case back.
He did just wind it and it is running, chimes, and pings. He tells me also it has been wound about 12 times in the last 50 years....obviously it needs a Patek service!
Can anyone direct me or tell me the history, provenance, or approximate worth of the piece? Anything or any direction would be appreciated.

I figured that. I was just trying to see if any knowledge exists before I recommend he spend 100 CHF for Patek to search their archives. He just does not have a discretionary source of funds. He resent photos to me and the watch does have a hunter case on...
