Heuer Carrera Dato 45 réf.3147 Later for Art ;)

Hi all,

It was necessary that I present one of my latest acquisitions, the Dato 45.

This version of Carrera comes in the mid-60 in a two sub dials version with date at twelve (Early 3147).

The four versions of Dato 45:

This little watch is nothing noble watchmaking speaking as powered by a modest  Landeron 189.

A real tractor but with a great story!

I repeat here an excerpt from Joel de Toulouse:

2- 1960 – 1980 : the date is spreading

At the initiative of the Swiss Watch Federation, between 1962 and 1966 took place a broad campaign of the chronograph in mostEuropean countries, backed by manufacturers who started at this time of new models. The result was below expectations: the export of Swiss chronographs in Europe grew from 52,000 units in 1964 to over 173,000 in 1969.
Two gauges chronographs created at that time included a simple date.
The first, released in 1963, is the Landeron 187 189 and its variant. It is a movement without column wheel that is found in many models. On this movement, date, single-window, can be arranged at will at noon, at 6am, and even completely new at the time, at 3 o'clock, or even at 9am. It will equip such a beautiful model of Heuer Carrera is therefore not contrary to the official story, the firstchronograph with date-window. The Carrera is characteristic, with the Breitling Top Time, a new trend that appears in the late1960s: to attract a younger clientele, each model chronograph is available in a multitude of variations in shape and to dialcustomize their purchase, and even multiply. There is thus a 30 Carrera, a 45, 12, a Carrera Tachy and thus, around 1965, Carrera date.

This excerpt confirms the sporting vocation of the watch with concern as reliability. Recurrence in Heuer!

Returning to the Panda 3147, mine What!

A wasp waist, 36 mm, a typical box Carrera 60 '. The Dato has a thicker case back because the Landeron is plump.

What is surprising about this watch is the dial so strange. Date at 9:00, 3:00-minute totalizer, all surrounded by a beautiful "réhaut".

A constant on the dials Heuer, details of finishes. Applied indexes, steel banding date, it's beautiful.

According to experts, the crown is not signed on Dato 45. Another detail particular, the push-buttons are smaller than on other Carrera and the crown larger.

Carrera box, despite its 36 mm, is very acceptable these days because it is long, the horns plunge on the wrist. Besides the design of these relates to the perfection!
It adds a nice home and domed plexi is happiness.

Best

Doug
