How it all started
Dear fellow Purists,
It's been many years I am reading and learning from this forum, from a bunch of generous people sharing their knowledge, insights and passion. Thanks to all of you. You've been a great help and inspiration.
I'd like to start my contributions on Watchprosite with the watch I started my journey.
Here's my Parmigiani Toric, bought in 2005 when I was in my early thrities. A thin, 40 mm platinum case with two distinctive knurled rings on the bezel, an anthrazite "grain d'or" guilloché dial, the Parmigiani-style hands, the date window harmoniously integrated in the chapter ring - to me, an understated but very well executed, classic watch. The movement is nicely finished, based on a Lemania 8815 ebauche.
We don't see these here very often - I hope you like this one.

It's been 14 years since you bought it and it looks as fresh and beautiful as ever. This design will never get old. Just spectacular - love it.

Welcome here, Daniel. Yes, you are right, we don't see many Parmigiani here, and it is a pity. There are some very nice ones.
The Toric is very much my taste. If only it didn't have this date window... All the best! Nicolas
I also try to avoid date windows as good as I can
On the Toric, I can tolerate it quite well, though.

I really like their older models. Some of the newer ones, like the Tonda 1950 also appeal to me.

Thanks Emil. I agree Parmigiani always flies under the radar.
In one way that's a pity because they don't get the reputation they maybe deserve. On the other hand, I am quite happy not to have an icon on the wrist that everybody points at.

you are very right that we do not see too often a Parmigiani here...and how pity that is.... among all main stream common watches that are seen routinely, it's very refreshing to see such an example.. looking great..

That's beautiful
It’s a classic design that has stood the test of time. The guilloche rotor and intricate casework are outstanding. It’s interesting that both Michel Parmigiani and Roger Dubuis choose the Lemania 8815 for their early watches.
