I just got my first JLC...
I meant to tell you guys I finally made up my mind as to which JLC to buy, but its been a busy week and this is my first chance to share what happened. Some of you may remember over the last few weeks I was trying to decide between a rose gold Geographic and a Rose gold 8 Day Master. Both were incredibly tempting watches, and both were so different it made the choice very difficult. Slowly I felt myself wanting the 8 Day Master. I really like the size and dial layout. Just when I thought I had made up my mind, the dealer told me he thought I should look at the Limited Edition Master Antoine in platinum. The dealer knows I'm festidious about the condition of a watch, and I won't buy one that has lot of "shop wear". He assured me he had kept it in the back and only he had looked at it. I told him I'd look at it but that I'd probably go with the rose gold version. He came back to the counter with a presentation box, that had the Antoine LeCoultre signature, and when he opened the box there was a loupe again with the signature, and the watch still wrapped in plastic. As he pulled the watch out of the plastic, I thought gee its not a bad looking watch in platinum. I tried it on and I was hooked!!! I had to give this watch some thought and asked the dealer to hold it for a few days. While I liked the watch I wondered if it was too much to spend, as I could get the rose gold version for half the price. Then I emailed a JLC Master Antoine owner Larry H., and he gave me his impressions of the watch. The more he told me the more I really thought maybe I should spring for the platinum. I have to thank Larry for all of his help and taking time to answer my questions about the watch. In the end I took the plunge and chose the platinum Master Antoine. I've worn it a few days this week and the more I wear it the more it grows on me. Also the blue strap is an interesting and cool change from the usual black straps I tend to see on white metal watches. I hope someday to add a Reverso (although I don't know which one)to my collection...but for now I'll have to behave myself and stay away from my local dealer until I've had some time to rebuild my watch funds.
