IWC Vintage Pilot - A quick photo update
After owning this watch for six months, here are some observations:
-For a 44mm watch, it wears extremely well and is not heavy or uncomfortable. I owned a GO Sport Evo that was smaller, but not as comfortable because of the heft and large crown guards.
-This watch has a number of differently finished surfaced - brushed, polished, coin edge, etc. which really show off the craftsmanship of IWC
-The large balance is mesmerizing. At 18,000 bph it really holds my attention
-The finishing of the c.98300 F.A. Jones movement is beyond reproach. The only thing I would have liked to see is some blued screws to add even more interest and they would also be in keeping with the classic German 3/4 plate used in this Swiss watch. This is a nice reference to IWC's horological proximity to Germany.
-Time keeping is outstanding at +3 seconds per day with a once a day wind. If I let it run to 48 hrs (the outside edge of its 46 hr pr), the time keeping is -4.
-Lastly, for those that like a vintage design, but whose lifestyle requires modern construction techniques, this is your watch. After going through a number of vintage watches (5513, SM300, etc.) that I thought would fit my active lifestyle, this one actually matches up to it.
And now the pics:

Thanks for looking.

. . . at most a few watches is admirable. Not so much from necessity (as in, do we really need vast collections), but for the sense of purpose and it brings. If I were to pare my collection down to just one modern watch for everyday wear, it would be a ma...
