Jaeger Lecoultre Grande Reverso Ultra Thin Italico.
The Reverso Italico...
Some months ago, somebody posted a picture of it.
As we are revisiting the Reverso, this year, I felt it was interesting to remind this one, which, in fact, existed in the Ultra Thin line, but also in the Reverso 976.
The secret of the red R at eight o' clock?
R as Reverso? Probably, yes. 2011, the year of the release of this special Reverso, was the 80th birthday of the rectangular JLC icon.
R as Reunification? Yes, too. Indeed, as 2011 was the 150th birthday of the Italian Reunification.
And one less expected or less famous explanation: The letter R was used in the roman alphabet for Octoginta ( 80 ).
The kind of detail which contributes to the interest of a watch, which was, as you guessed it, reserved to the italian market. And a nice way to celebrate an anniversary, too.
Best,
Nicolas
