Jaeger Lecoultre Master Compressor Memovox, the start of a revolution.
When it was unveiled in 2002, the Master Compressor Memovox (please allow me to call it MCM ) was a revolution in the traditional ( by all meanings ) JLC usual landscape.
- A first sports watch, well, since the diving series from the end of the Fifties till the early Seventies.
- Revisiting the mythic Polaris, in a modern way.
- Inaugurating the technic of the compressor crown.
- With a daring, young design... Merci Magali.
Oooh yes, some were not very happy to see such a beast arriving in the collection, as they were used to see some more conservative watches, but I've been told by several people at JLC that the Master Compressor Line saved JLC, at that time!
It was launched in several metals...
The most famous is the steel, with this official picture:
The Rose gold, with its anthracite dial:
The platinum, and its gorgeous blue dial, the only one to be a limited edition ( of 250 pieces ).
And the white gold, coming with a very nice grey dial:
Ok, the movement ( Cal 918 ) was not that modern, and we had to wait a few more years before seeing a new alarm movement ( Cal 912 / 956 ) allowing, FINALLY, a quick set of the date. But for the rest, this was a modern watch, which is not too outdated, still nowadays.
The MCM had a quite short life, as it was discontinued 5 years after its launch, so, in 2007.
The case was big, with a generous diameter of 41, 5 mm, and, in the real, it looked even bigger.
It was quite thick, too: 15, 5 mm, and not the most comfortable watch I wore, maybe because of its engraved medallion, too?
Nonetheless, it was a lovely and very pleasant watch.
It is now part of JLC history!
Best,
Nicolas
