Jaeger-LeCoultre

Less is more?!

How often haven’t you heard a designer or an artist say these words?

Many times as they were the first person on earth to say it..!

I must confess that sometimes when I hear this and sees what they have accomplished, I think they are just lacy or out of ideas.

But some times that expression really fits the bill.

Like this example;

JLC from approx 1951.

I don’t know the reference for this one but it looks like an E 217 or E 326, if anybody can help me out, it would be highly appreciated.

Functions;

Hour, minute and sub-seconds.

Case;

YG 18 K, 34 mm in diameter, 7 mm high, screw on case back.

Movement;

It’s housing a Cal P 480/C manual movement.

Pure, Simple, Genius – do you agree?

Here compared with a semi-modern classic, the Master Control (old version).

As you can see, a lot is still the same in the modern version of “ less is more ”.

So, what do you think; is less really more?

Best
