New Seiko Presage Releases

The 2024 releases are coming quicker and quicker everyday. This may be one of the more anticipated brand releases or least depending on which side of the price spectrum you typically sit on. I have to admit, the more budget friendly options have not excited me in a while. This one, however, did something for me. Yes it’s just another Datejust clone with a few tweaks, but I think these have a dial worth fighting for. Seiko describes them as having a “silklike” appearance and I have to disagree but the texture on them is superb. These are nice, simple, understated, and classy pieces that fall right at that $1000 USD mark ($950 to be exact). They call them the SPB463, SPB467, and SPB465.

To dive into the specs a bit, we have 100m WR and a 72 hour power reserve that is supplied by the caliber 6R55 that is ticking at 21,600 bph. The bracelet is going to be a butterfly clasp, something I find classier than a single fold but generally lacking a micro adjust. Something you have to pay a substantial amount of money for on this sort of clasp. Think VC Ovsrseas or PP Nautilus for that sort of adjustability on a butterfly. Outside of the lack of tool-less adjustment I feel like this could be a real winner. However, I am a sucker for salmon dials as I have been longing for one in the collection since the fad started.

What are your thoughts? Just another DJ clone to add to the pile, or something that is going to stand out from the pack?
