New Ulysse Nardin enamel dials in 2012

Besides the Classico "General Raevsky" shown in the Baselworld 2012 report, and executed in fine miniature enamel painting, there are three other new enamel dial watches, that have been released in late 2011 and now in 2012:

The first is showing a stunningly birlliant Thai dragon boat, executed not in cloisonné technique, but in enamel champlevé. Here, the cells that later are filled with the enamel colour are carved or stamped into the metal base, rather than created by bending and glueing a hairthin gold wire onto the base, as it is done in the cloisonné technique.

And two ships are added to the growing collection of maritime dial motifs, executed in cloisonné enamel by the former Donzé company, that has been acquired by Ulysse Nardin last year. They are the leading experts in creating cloisonné enamel miniatures in Switzerland. Unlike all previously depicted sailing vessels, the two ships presented now have already been tributed to by UN in earlier years: the "Santa Maria", flagship of Christopher Columbus when he travelled to America, and the English ship of the line "Victory", flagship of Admiral Nelson in the battle of Trafalgar.

The direct comparison with the first edition of some twenty years ago drastically demonstrates the progress Donzé has made in this craft since then. Both watches are offered in 18k white and pink gold cases, limited to 30 pieces each.

And here is the original edition of the "HMS Victory" dial:

However, we are not likely to see a complete re-edition of all older-style ship dials. But maybe there will be the one or other of them?

By the way, I have updated the increasingly extensive enamel dial reference on the reference page here:
