Blancpain

Oliver, Magnus or anybody having a lot of knowledge, please

 


Hi,

I think I need to acquire a Blancpain chronograph. I have in my mind either Leman Flyback with big date or Villeret mono pusher with complete calendar.

The first one I know and understand and the movement is actually quite nice because also VC & AP are using the same.

In the latter I know well the complete calendar complication and like a lot the idea of the under lug correctors. But what about the chronograph part of the movement? I can't really find much information. What can you tell me about the chronograph?

Both of the watches you are considering have variants of the same chronograph movement: the Blancpain 1185 base. And you are right, this movement is used by Vacheron in its Overseas Chronographs and by AP in its Royal Oak Chronograph. And it is used also ...

Yes. The Blancpain 1185 in all of its variations is excellent and its adoption and use by other prestige brands confirms that.
