One man's passion ... my friend's private Omega museum
I have a friend whose enthusiasm and dedication to the Omega brand put mine to shame. He is the type of a quiet guy who is easy to smile and laugh but never brag. In his solitude he has slowly acquired Omega watches and other associated items over the years from various brick and mortar and online sources, as well as older Omega dealers which are no longer in business. Today the pieces he has amass into a huge collection he has decided to build a private museum in his own office.
Normally the pieces are stored at different, safe locations for the obvious reason. They are brought together only when there is an open house.
Here are some of the pics I want to share from my latest visit to his place about two months ago...
I could not resist trying a watch I have always wanted to have.

And I thought the economy was bad. At least things must have worked out well for these four happy owners.

The sheer breadth of the collection, as well as all the supporting material like movements and POS accessories clearly shows rare (if not obsessive ;-)) passion. What a treat to have been able to visit!
He organizes an open house on a roughly quarterly basis.

Hans, would you be kind enough to share which one your favorite is?
His museum will take this form from now on. I don't think he cannot put the watches up permanently due to security concerns. But at least we have the photographs to go by Ruckdee

Your friend is one very very lucky guy, not only he has spare movements but also some of the rarest omegas. Is your friend someone who worked at Omega???? thanks for sharing regards georges

He is just a regular guy like us who appreciate Omega brand and watches. He just happens to be very successful at his manufacturing business and has a VERY understanding wife. I cannot imagine the kind of trouble my financee will give me if I spend this m...

Things can see some evolutions...
I saw the so called Speed Alaska Project... On pictures, I loved it, in the real, it was a real no go. This Speed Meteorite Dial was exactly the inverse. If I had to get a modern Speedie, yes, this would be this one. Still have to " work " on the Vintage ...
