Patek Philippe

PLEASE READ THIS:

I have tried to take a back seat, after the last debacle .

I have tried to let the forum “behave” in a dignified manner

The post HAGWE once again shows lack of decorum

To be honest I find it hard to believe that grown men can be such children- ridiculous

When someone buys a Patek Philippe, what ever it is - costs a lot of money, so if they share it / if you don’t like it that’s fine, but it’s not fine to disrespect someones pride and joy

It’s just decent courtesy.

So if you don’t like it, keep your opinion to yourself please

BUT if you are doing a watch review, then your opinion negative or positive has validity
Other forumners can also express a valid opinion based on your reviews

I think thats fair.

DONT reply to this post, Its not a discussion

Other Moderators have a right to reply only.

FINAL WARNING ⚠️

I am sick of it.

Your Moderator

Imran, you moderate the Patek Philippe forum and it is your role to set the tone. I agree with you 100% that when a member posts a watch that he has just bought or one that he is sharing with other members, it is just not appropriate for any member to be rude or critical about it. A reminder of the rules of the forum ...... treat other members as if you are meeting them for the first time at a polite cocktail party. If you have nothing positive to say about a watch in such circumstances, then say nothing. Would you seriously meet someone at a cocktail party for the first time and tell them that their watch looked stupidly small on their wrist? or that it was blingy?

However, if a member posts a watch and and it is part of a critical review soliciting opinions, then critical opinion is absolutely welcomed. In all circumstances, that opinion should remain polite and friendly, but it can be a completely different opinion. Debate and a difference of opinion is often a catalyst for new thinking, but it should NEVER be rude or impolite. I think it is often the case that members misunderstand that Moderators here are not trying to stifle debate at all, but they are trying to keep any debate civil and polite. Those are the required rules of the forum.

I think it is also worth remembering that we all have opinions and that  they can differ wildly. Humility in understanding that opinions are not facts is worth noting.

Behind you 100% Imran!!
Keep on the good work and I really hope we can have fun and nice time here without any unnecessary bad blood and negative emotions.
Watches are our hobby & passion with that always in mind we will prevail bad days and negative emotions.
Whatever steps that need to be taken for that achievement I'm behind you.
Cheers

Imran, your forum, your rules!
That said, I fully agree here - this is a place where all should be able to share with joy, engage with passion, seek opinions and even if not in agreement, there should still be politeness.

Imran,
fully support you 100%. Nobody wants to mute any discussions or different opinions. But we need some rules like in all places and it is sad that we need to bring this up again and again. It is our job as Mods to keep this place civilised and foster good discussion without anyone having to face rude or inappropriate comments.
Thanks for making this clear again!
