Recent Servicing Experience

The mainspring came loose from its barrel on my PAM111. I hadn’t sent it in for servicing since I bought it, so it was due anyway. Even though it runs on an ETA 6497 that anyone can work on, I decided to go to an AD to have Panerai service it. I was dreading the horror stories you hear about big brand servicing, like ‘fixes’ that you didn’t want, astronomical cost, and a long turnaround time. Although it wasn’t cheap, the cost was in line with expectations, I got the servicing I wanted, I didn’t get anything I didn’t want (no case polishing, no dial-side parts replacement, etc.), I received it three weeks ahead of the estimate, I have a new manufacture-backed one year warranty, and I got a free travel case. I’m pleasantly surprised!

What have people’s recent servicing experiences been like?
