This one has gotten some wrist time this week. It’s been a while since I have actually done more than just take it out for a few minutes, so good to have it on the wrist.
Unfortunately it has reminded me of how good 38mm is for my wrist, and with that brought the realization that the current Journe line up has limited options for me. I think I can push for 40mm, but I know it will less than perfect. This is in part the reason why I haven’t made my way to a Boutique to see the RQ in person.
Will we ever see sub 40mm again? Doesn’t seem likely.
Even the Sport line has been upsized and what was manageable for me (42mm, no lugs) is now just beyond reasonable (44mm) for me.
Ive said it before, but perhaps the only solution is the gym !!!

But I doubt that you'd be unhappy with a 40 mm. Try one on and see.
I’ve tried for years, not the RQ, but everything else.
It’s maybe something that’s OK if the metal and dial are specific colours and visually give a smaller feel to the watch. The lugs don’t extend over the edge of my wrist, but they are very close to doing so.
I love the movement, and also the finishing on the inside of the strap
Flat sticky leather lining on my wrist doesn't appeal to me, but that texture is great. Is it comfortable? Mike
These straps are super comfortable in my opinion.
Each of the OEM FPJ straps I have are the same in terms of the reverse side. His watches are generally thin and so the straps also have no padding really, so pretty thin.
Two questions (and one comment) come to mind in this thread.

You bought the strap new? I’ve not seen an non quick release in my Journe time. Re my wrist, 6.25 inches these days so considerably smaller than yours. What I will say is the slimmer bezels on the 40mm cases do help significantly with the visuals. For sur...

I got the strap in trade. AT first i assumed it was just some nicely done strap, but then I looked closely and saw it is clearly embossed with the FPJ logo. Looks like an old one. I'll keep it just because I've never ever seen one.
My FPJ didn't have quick releases on either strap
I don't know what you guys consider "old" but this was 12 years ago ...
It could be an old one. spring bars with tabs started around 2010. and was optional for some time.

About the realization that most in the current lineup just won’t fit me as well as a 38mm does. I have a 38mm octa lune and it wears like a dream, even noticeably better than the 39mm CB.

I must admit the 38 Lune does look great on you.
I have a CB too and I’d concur that the 38mm is better for my wrist.
That said the CB wears well, and part of that is because the dull case (what the tantalum gives you). This was of course not a problem until the last two years as there was still 38mm choices floating around. I silly enough passed on several 38mm pieces w...

Passed on a number of 38s in favor of some other pieces not knowing that the price line was going to go vertical soon thereafter. Not much left in 38mm that isn’t at a crazy price.
What a phrase! Agree it's an amazing piece and would be the top of any collection!
As for fitment.. did your wrist size change from your earlier years? Or did you perceived optimal size change? Either way you may need to do some wrist curls to get into the newer models 😂
I also tend to prefer FPJ’s 38mm pieces (and obviously the CB in 39).
And I definitely prefer the 40mm versions over the 42mm versions of certain FPJ pieces. But it’s all for naught as the affordability aspect has increasingly become a barrier to acquiring one of the older pieces. I do have some pieces in mind if prices eve...

As you say 38 is finished. It seems quite clear FPJ has abandoned the smaller sizes to get more space for his movements. The only hope is the Octa which can fit in a 36 mm case also. I doubt it but never say never ;-)

FPJ is one of my favorites, I ordered the new resonance in 42mm, my wrist is 6.75 inches and 40mm is the smallest I want to wear. 38 looks too small for me especially if it is a thin watch. Beautiful strap...Jim

The new Resonance is a beast, I’m sure it’ll fit right in among those other fantastic pieces you have.
