Senator Perpetual - The return!...and the departure - Markus, HELP!

For those who might have been following my lack of success with the Senator Perpetual, I received the watch back yesterday, April 9th. The dealer pointed out the warranty repair notation "Replaced Date Module." I know this was done as the one turned in had the leading zero and the one returned did not - much to my joy as I prefer this. I had requested that the watch be returned set to Feb. 24th so I could watch the Feb/March leap year change occur but the day of the week was incorrect for the date. So, I carefully set the movement according to the instructions in the owners manual, set the time of day and left the watch wound on the table figuring I could go a week or so with the incorrect date just to experience the joy of Feb/March change and then I would set everything to the current date.

Well, next morning, the watch stopped keeping time at 11:24pm and no date change. The day of the week was mid change, THE SECOND HAND WAS STILL RUNNING, and the minute hand and hour hand were motionless! This is the exact symptom I experienced with my first Senator Perpetual. I cannot understand how Glashutte could let this happen a third time nor do I believe this to be an isolated case. The dealer said that of all the GO models, the only one which they have had a problem with in the past is the Senator Perpetual.

Much to my dealers credit, they were willing to do whatever it takes to keep me a happy customer including refunding my purchase price, replacing the Senator Perpetual with a factory new one, going with another brand, etc. So here is the dilemma: Do I give up after being burned three times and noting that some posters here have also had problems with this model, do I go with another brand, do I request my money back?

Well, here is my thinking and the deal I made today. I asked them to replace, for the third time, my Senator Perpetual. Should this watch fail, I will be returning it for a refund of the purchase price and abandoning the GO brand. I welcome your comments if you think I made a good/bad decision.

Markus, if you can get any additional information directly from your contacts at the factory which might explain why two new Senator Perpetuals would not function and why, after a warranty service, this movement would again malfunction in less than 24 hours, this might help restore my shrinking faith Glashutte Original. I still believe that the Senator Perpetual is the most beautiful presentation of a perpetual calendar and in a very good price range and just do not understand this issue. The factory needs to be very pro active and address this issue directly with their customers. I would love to get their direct feedback on what I, as a Glashutte Original customer can do to be the proud owner of a Senator Perpetual without doubt as to how this watch will perform in the future. I am giving them my hard earned money for the fourth time in faith but could use a bit of reassurance. Feel free to share all of my posts here with Glashutte personnel.

Keeping my fingers crossed,

Michael
