Six months of the All Black Rescue
About six months ago I got my PuristSPro Edition ABR watch, with the customary two straps and started with the more lively, red one. Now, half a year in I decided to switch straps and it quite transforms the watch. In any case, here are some first impressions after using it for a while.
Switching straps to the black one was quite an interesting experience from a personal point of view. In its really All Black version (strap and watch) it strongly reminds me of my first watch, an early 1980s Swatch, also in an all black version, with white hands and a red seconds hand, black (plastic) body and a black strap. Makes it even more appealing to me now - even if the red strap makes it nicely playful.

The second connection (apart from it being an official PuristSPro watch) is that it is made by St.Gallen Horology, not far from where I spent four years in Switzerland getting my PhD.
As said, with the red strap it adds a touch of colour, whether to a traditionally sombre German car interior, or in life more generally. I like the general ruggedness, the ability to wash it without worrying about anything, the chance to actually do chores with it... The power reserve is - as a result of the ETA movement - fairly short but as I usually only wear it over weekends, it requires setting and winding every time, so even a 3 day power reserve would not have sufficed. I am generally not a fan of screw down crowns (same here) as I never dive and as there are perfectly adequate solutions for WR of 100m without. It unscrews easily enough and the watch is quick to set and to wind but rescrewing the crown always gives me an uneasy feeling.
If properly exposed to light, the lume stays reasonably bright for quite a while - exposing it to the iPhone light for about a minute before going to sleep will keep the watch legible till the morning. If push comes to shove it's quite legit to take it to the office, too, unless you are planning more formal events. And it is often quite a good conversation starter
But most of the time it is used in the evenings, over weekends and holidays.
The watch gets plenty of approval by my wife, as seeing it usually means I will cook or that I have chores at home planned (something that is gladly accepted)

And my daughter is a fan, too - as seen below
And it gets official approval from the (late) Kaiser, too

I hear there are still a handful available, if you are tempted...
