Glashütte Original

Some impressions of the Senator Klassik

As posted below, I purchased this watch with panorama date about 12 days ago. Some initial impressions:

1) The casework is truly a delight. The bezel has three concentric layers that are subtle, yet appealing aesthetically. Furthermore, I love the look of the burnished steel. The crown operates reasonably smoothly.

2) The dial work (mine is the Navigator version; are others available with only the panorama date and not a moonphase or power reserve?) is quite simple, resulting in a highly legible aviator style watch.

3) The Glashutte Panorama date is, IMHO, superior to the Lange and UN versions of the big date complication.

4) The watch is quite comfortable on the wrist.

5) The movement, while nicely finished, is nowhere near as aesthetically pleasing as the caliber 45.

6) Accuracy is beyond reproach; +1.8 secs/day

7) Luminescence could be brighter.

8) I can't quite decide on the appropriate strap; I've gone from brown croco to steel bracelet to a thickly padded black lizard, which I think is my favorite. Would also look nice, I believe, on a nice rubber strap.
