Taipei Audemars Piguet Millenary 4101 Launch Party

Dylan Lin from the Taipei 101 Audemars Piguet Boutique invited me to the Taiwan Millenary 4101 launch party on this past Wednesday night and it was a lot of fun.  Some Escala type music, hot asian models, free champagne, and the mini hamburger and crab cake hors d'oeuvres were especially delicious.

However, I couldnt help but notice that the excitement for the Millenary 4101 watch just wasnt there.

Although in some circles, people give AP a hard time about offering up unlimited limited editions of royal oak offshores, thats what the market actually wants.  The Millenary is a beautiful horological achievement (it actually looks like a poor man's tourbillion) but what people actually want to BUY from AP are 30k USD piggyback chronographs.

People who actually buy AP (not just talk about AP on the internet) want a Royal Oak Offshore made of Elven Mithril with a Dragonhide strap.  No one cares about the Jules Audemars, Millenary, or Eduard Piguet lines.

The reason I am posting in the HOME forum and not the AP forum is that I notice that all the brands have more or less this same issue of the market and the internet sometimes contradicting each other.  Another example is how some internet paneresti are complaining that panerai is offering TOO MANY desirable models lately with the 382, 372, 390.  But the market demand for those 3 watches is overwhelming.
