Temporary loss of my Senator Perpetual !
I finally caught up with my Senator Perpetual this Thanksgiving holiday (had it mailed ahead) and could not think of a better treat...turkey dinner with family and then while others watched the football game, I carefully unwrapped the package. Absolutely stunning! Except for the fact that the day of the week indicator was slightly rotated in the window...hmmm
I carefully set the month at one year before leap year, advanced the time to determine 12 noon, set the date and day of the week, set the moon, carefully wound the Senator to full wind and watched it all evening keep perfect time. The shock came the next morning...stopped cold at 11:40pm !
I notified the dealer immediately and tried one more time. I carefully and slowly advanced the time away from the hours of calendar change to the next afternoon, cycled the date through one month, cycled the day of the week through one week, slowly cycled the the month 4 years back around to November, reset everything to the same day and date of the last stop.
It was fine all day and night but at 8am in the morning, the watch indicated 11:24pm AND THE SECOND HAND WAS STILL RUNNING and no date change! Needless to say, I was terribly disappointed but the GO has been hand delivered back to the dealer as defective and I am now awaiting a replacement. I can only guess that as this was a display model in high demand and shown between two of their stores, at some point it must have been mistreated.
