Hi all, these are the pictures that I took of the 382 at the 2011 SIHH. I'm posting this on other watch fora as well, so my apologies if you've already seen the photos.
The 382 has the P.9000 in-house movement, the same one that is used for the titanium submersible PAM305. If my information is correct, the case is made of a bronze alloy with some tin added to minimize corrosion. The bronze surface will of course oxidize nonetheless. You can actually already see this in the pictures. It looks very nice - really like a proper tool watch. Each 382 will develop a unique patina over time.
The use of bronze is not new to Panerai. An early model prototype exists. I've seen pictures of that prototype which has turned completely brown. The case back of the watch has a titanium ring so that the bronze case doesn't touch the skin, which might otherwise cause skin irritation. I don't know for a fact that bronze causes skin irritation, but I've read something about this particular subject on other watch boards.
The color of the dial has a greenish hue, something that I think Panerai has not used before. The greenish dial is a perfect match for the bronze case. According to the Panerai website the dial actually is green, if so then it's a very dark - almost black - green but it may depend on the light under which I've seen the watch and taken the pictures.
