The shortest distance between two points

I know that when you see a picture such as the one above all of you are thinking the same thing that I am;

                                                                     "there must be a road over that"

That picture was taken from Minusio on the north shore of the Lago Maggiore looking south.  The road that we are imagining goes from Vira on the shore of the lake up to the Alpe di Neggia Pass, across the Italien border and back down to the shore of the lake at Maccagno.

Elise is chomping at the bit to get out and drive that road.  And we know that the shortest distance between two points is sometimes inhabited by something called hairpin curves.  My count, using my scientific "feeling" to distinguish between hairpin curves and run-of-the-mill sharp curves, picks up 32 hairpin curves between Vira and the Pass with another 17 on the way back down to the lake on the Italian side.

Now it is time to get out on the road.

Some curves on the way going down to Vira.

Some of the fast straights

Just can't forget the curves

I hope you have enjoyed this little drive in Tessin.
