Tudor Pelagos FXD Chrono Alinghi Red Bull Racing Edition

I’m currently in Interlaken in Switzerland and, in the window of the Tudor dealer, I saw a display model for the new Pelagos FXD Chrono Alinghi Red Bull Racing Edition. I went in to try it on and it’s really very nice.

It’s light but the steel case back gives it some weight (unlike the 39mm Pelagos which is too light for my tastes). I really liked the dark blue and red of the dial and the contrast between the silver of the titanium bezel, crown and pushers and dark grey/black of the carbon composite case and be el insert gives the watch some interest. The “Alinghi Red Bull Racing” on the dial was not too noticeable in the flesh (although I would certainly prefer to have the complete seconds track rather than this text).

The only thing I didn’t really like was the strap. It just feels light and cheap but I understand that a tough and light strap might be ideal if you’re actually racing a yacht.

The 43mm case looks big in this picture, but that’s just the angle. In reality, it was fine on my 18 cm wrist.

I still love the 42mm blue titanium model!

All the best,

Jon
