HI,
I have the same problem as another friend on the posts. I was offered a Vacheron Constantin Overseas Chronometer with Black Dial. Now, if I were to purchase it, I would be the 3rd owner. The second owner "lost " all documents, he still has the original Case it came in, you can tell it is around 4 years old which is what he claims the watch is as well. His asking price is $7,000.00 and a little room for negotiating. The outside is practically mint but is does have its normal wear and tear scratches and band softness and slight clasp miss-alignment. I had it digitally weighed with all its links and it weighed the same as the original, it was of by 2 or 3 Grams. Looks and feels like the real one. Hands are the same and I had to put a couple of drops of Diesel on the screws to remove them since they were REALLY tight, so I could Remove the Back Case Cover. I took various pictures of it with the rotor in different positions so the entire Movement could be seen. I wrote to Vacheron, but they want me to send them the watch and pay $750.00 for the Certificate and a bunch of other papers I have to send. The owner is a lawyer so what should I look for or could I send or post some pics of the movement or any other part of the watch to find out its authenticity? Please if someone can give me a hand I would really appreciate it.
Thank you,
The Engineer
