VC inside Gold Dollar

Can you help - my wife has a 1904 gold 20 dollar piece. When I investigated, the dollar piece has a tiny oblong section which pushes in - the coin is hinged and inside is a small VC watch. What a surprise...

Any ideas on date of manufacture or value?
