Watch hunting-Part 1...

Nothing special, just want to share my friend "watch hunting" experience.

As most Purists in this forum that are willing to give "helping hands" to others (Marcus, ThomasM, John Davis, etc), I also imitate the purists using my knowledge learned here to help my friend sorting out a quality watch. After we "investigate, search, search and investigate" =) , my friend has made up his mind to purchase a GO. He has decided that he is going to purchase a LE Navigator Kareer Panodate after we have located one previously in one of the dealer shops. We arrived the shop around 5:30 p.m. and my friend askes the sales person about our purpose-LE Navigator Karrer, at the same time, my eyes are caught by a "not famaliar" GO that is surrounded by different series of GO. Senator Panodate with Moonphase, LE Navigator Kareer, etc., however, my eyes keep staring at this GO as it is the early version of classic 1845 pointer date. I have asked the sales person why there is such a classic GO for sales (should be a display only model), as it should be out of production long time ago. My reply is simple and clear: Dealership changing usually will help finding out all NOS, and this NOS just find out in this week. Woo! Findinmg such classical timepiece makes the whole situation of this watch buying incident getting a lot serious.
Dilemma!!! My firend can afford one watch only, and I already committed to purchase two watches that I ordered before ( that's mean I cannot buy any watch!!!! ) We can't keep both watches....

In the first hand, the SS LE Navigator Kareer is very stunning, massive and cool! The black Navigator dial is very attractive, together with a bracelet on the wrist, this watch draws a lot of attention from people. Also, this watch is limited to 500 pieces, and this "limited Edition" effect really affects people mind make up....

On the other hand, it is a classical and famous GO timepiece, with 1845 movement together with a 2 tones silver dial and pointer date enclosed in a early GO SS case with Mill bezel.

Question 1.-If you were me, what would you recommend to my friend? LE Navigator Kareer or classical NOS 1845 pointer date?? Why you make such recommendation?

My friend do finally buy a GO watch, GUESS which one he picks up finally??

Regards,

Hans
