Whatta watch!

Well, a full 24 hours later, I've just had a second opportunity to look at Jaw's description of the new 75th Anniversary Reverso.

There are just about no words to describe it, especially for a long-time Reverso devotee like myself! It was just this evening, when showing the pictures to my wife, that I noticed that MJLC have tucked a sunrise/sunset time and EOT indication in the nooks of the "sidereal side" of the watch. Wow. I do love the AP EOT, but this use of the same complications is (in my personal opinion) very much its equal. Not to mention that the perpetual date is a retrograde -- a central feature for several very fine watches, but just a lovely added feature here. And, as others have mentioned, the whole new escapement and tourbillon arrangement -- mind-blowing

I only wish that I had been in the meeting in which a member of the MJLC team said "you know, when you manually change the date of a perpetual calendar, all you do is push a pin into a corrector..." Followed by the lightning bolt realization that the same could be true of a perpetual indication in the base plate of a Reverso. Perhaps I'll be fortunate enough some day to hear the story told by someone who was there -- or, if it was a solitary invention, to hear the inventor describe the moment of realization. That story would be just about as delicious to me as seeing the object itself -- it's hard for me to decide which I value more, the idea or its reification!

My business (and that of the firm of which I am a partner) consists of helping companies to develop innovative new businesses and business strategies. As someone deeply steeped in the concepts and practice of innovation, I can only stand up and cheer to see the brilliant innovations that continue to arise from my favorite Manufacture. If part of the concept is to re-energize the faithful to consider adding other models from the JLC line to their collections, it's working...

Once more, well done MJLC! And my hope is that one or more members of our community will have the opportunity to post a few wrist shots of his or her own example of this beauty...
