GP Service Center

Hi John,

GP?s in North America are serviced by the GP Service Center (aka RGM):

I don?t have any experience, though.

The 4900 comes with a pretty well-tested movement that has been in use for quite some time by GP and by many more brands. So i wouldn?t expect any problems at all; the GP pieces i?ve encountered so far sporting this movement turned out to be trouble-free, reliable and very accurate.

The 4900 line is discontinued since about 5 years ago and the pictured watch is a bit older (early/mid 1990?s).
I?m not sure, but i?d imagine it may need service work even if NOS; it?s not recommendable to store a watch for a decade and not to change at least the oil when putting it into use.

As to the warranty:
If bought from an authorized GP dealer, you will be given a valid warranty that covers proper function from the date of acquisition. While this requires the warranty card to be properly filled out, the warranty of course does not start when the card is stamped, but when the watch is sold.
I can?t imagine a "blank" warranty card will be honoured, particularly not if the watch in question is so recent (there?s a reason it is discounted).
If the practice in the US turns out to be different, i?m tempted to make use of a few of my vintage warranty cards

But then, i?d say it?s not a problem at all; GP?s service in Switzerland is extremely affordable compared to almost all other high-end brands.
And i can say from experience they do a really great job that is at least on par with any other brand.

Greetings,

Peter
