Yep. It?s a monster...
Hi Isaac,
this may explain:
It?s really 20.11mm in height (while a little over 44mm wide).
And it?s really a big watch, but still elegant and - wearable!
I had a chance to wear both the 80180 (44mm Laureato Evo3 chronograph, 14mm high) and the 49940 Sea Hawk Pro (on TI bracelet) today. The difference on the wrist is significant; the Evo3 is not exactly a thin watch and it isn?t smallish either, but the Pro is much more heft. And it?s still wearable. It?s huge and very very dominant, but the curved shape and the curved crystal/bezel make for an ergonomic case design. In addition, because of the curves i?d imagine the Pro will not suffer from dings as easy as cases with more straight lines. It?s made to be a professional diver?s watch and here occassional bumps are rather frequent. So it?s designed to take less damage.
The case shape is very different from Panerai?s casework both in the Luminor and Radiomir line. And such the GP wears; it?s by no means quiet or unobtrusive and while this is a full-fledged professional diver?s watch (3.000m/9.900ft rating), it?s not like strapping a brick to your wrist.
If you have a chance to see it, i?m sure you will like it.
It must be seen in nature; the Pro is in no way comparable to a Panerai watch, nor is it like any other diver?s watch around.
Just - the few that are delivered to GP?s retailers here in Germany don?t stay for long on the shelves. It is priced pretty competitive here, even less than the comparable regular 42mm Titanium variant on rubber strap.
Greetings from germany,
Peter
