Les Amoureux

One of my favorite watch advertisements (and I think one of the sweetest): French readers will recognize Raymond Peynet's Les Amoureux in the enclosed 1952 watch advertisement (Indicateur Davoine, page 313, 1952).

Gerald Genta fans will remember a couple of years ago a Genta watercolor was sold featuring Raymond Peynet's lovers.

Gerald Genta (c. 1996). Medium: watercolour on paper, the printed dial glued from the back, painted hands. The watch displayed on this watercolour drawing combines various interesting elements. While not exactly clear which materials were used, the bezel has an intriguing pearl-like appearance with what could be turquoise cabochons hour markers. The strap also has a similarly interesting pattern with a bubble-like appearance. This is combined with a dial based on the painting 'Les Amoureux' by Raymond Peynet.
